There are various reasons why so many of us suffer with dark circles under our eyes. For some of us it can be a lack of sleep, stress or water retention, and for others it can be down to genetics or facial structure. Whatever it is that’s causing your eyes to look dark, dull and drab, there is a way to brighten them up.
Dark circle camouflage tattooing offers a way to hide the bad visual effect that a dark circle can cause, and aims to brighten up the skin. However, like with many treatments, people naturally have concerns, and this treatment has people talking.
Before I get into the misconceptions, let’s learn a bit about the treatment itself.
For a long time, there was nothing in the beauty and medical industry that treated dark circles, but I am here to change the game.
Created by the fantastic Brazilian tattoo artist, Rodolpho Torres, this treatment is performed by only myself in the UK. Taking the time to go back to my home country, Brazil, I learned everything there is to know about this technique and I am proud to offer this technique in the UK.
By using a cosmetic tattoo gun, I will insert a pigment one layer under the skin to act as a buffer between the source of the darkness and the surface of the skin. In order to match the pigment to your skin, I will use a small handheld device to identify the photo type so I can produce the right formula to get the best results.
A trained and skilled professional, such as myself, must perform this type of treatment, and when performed correctly, it can transform your face and boost your confidence. The aim of this treatment is not to get rid of the dark circles, but to improve the aesthetic contrast and boost self-esteem.
So, what are the misconceptions?
The first thing that people worry about is it being a “tattoo”. Whilst I do use a cosmetic tattoo gun, I can assure you that the treatment isn’t painful, however it can be tender so I can apply numbing cream to the area beforehand.
Another common misconception is an ingredient that is used in the in pigments called Titanium Dioxide. Over the years, this substance has attracted a lot of attention, but when used correctly such as with this technique, it is considered safe by the FDA.
Medical or Camouflage Tattooing with its colourful tones has been in the beauty industry for a long time and you need to be aware that any ink with colour will contain Titanium Dioxide.
The particles for inks used in Medical or Camouflage Tattooing procedures always have Titanium Dioxide and they will be much heavier compared to the pigments that I use for microblading for example.
You will notice that the colour for microblading fades out and changes faster compared to Medical or Camouflage Tattooing.
The reason for that is because the particles in semi-permanent make up AND/OR in microblading are much smaller and lighter than the colour, meaning it will be expelled and broken much more easier to the surface compared to the inks used in Medical/Camouflage Tattooing.
Something that I hear often is that people are worried about the sun discolouring the tattoo, turning it to yellow or orange. However, because of the Titanium Dioxide being present in the pigment, the colour will not change, and it will only fade over time and you may require a touch up in the future.
This point brings us onto another worry that many people have which is sun exposure. Naturally you’ll want to enjoy the sun, and whilst I ask that you stay out of the sun under treatment, you can take all the sun you want once you have completed the course of treatment.
