How does Medical Tattooing Work?

Under eye concealer tattooing is very similar to other permanent makeup treatments, the pigment will be inserted into the skin via a cosmetic tattoo gun.

The pigment sits one layer under the skin to acts as a buffer between the source of underlying darkness and the surface of skin.

We use a small handheld device to identify the photo type and produce the right formula to match perfectly before beginning tattooing.

This is not micro pigmentation, it is a tattoo. You can live a normal life and expose it to sunlight knowing that your skin will not become stained, because the tattoo pigments give us this security.

Why is Pigment Used?

Unlike a regular tattoo, medical tattooing procedures use a special type of pigment. These pigments are 100% safe and non-irritants. Regular ink molecules are larger and, therefore, permanent. Once the ink is injected into the dermal skin layer, it stays there. Medical pigments have smaller molecules, which are broken down by the body over time. This means medical tattoos fade, although how long this takes will depend on your skin type, the medication you take, your body temperature, and the aftercare treatment.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q. How long does the treatment session last?

A. The number of treatment sessions needed will determine the overall cost, but we will discuss this at your consultation, so you can make an informed decision before you go ahead and book a treatment. We work with packages or separated sessions.

Q. Does it matter if I have a tan before the treatment?

A. It is very important that your skin is not tanned when you have a medical tattoo. Pigments are blended to your natural skin tone, so if you have a tan and this then fades, the tattooed area will appear darker than the rest of your body.

Q. Does it hurt?

A. Medical tattooing isn’t painful, but the treatment area will feel a little tender. Please be assured that numbing anaesthetic can be used if you are very sensitive to discomfort. Each treatment takes approximately one hour.

Q. Can I go straight back to work after the treatment?

A. You can expect the area to look a bit red for up to 72-hours, but you are fine to return to work immediately after a treatment session.

Q. Is aftercare provided?

A. Yes, of course!

Titanium Dioxide

  1. Is Titanium Dioxide harmful to our body?
  2. Can Titanium Dioxide in white inks turn yellow over time when exposed to heat and sunlight?

The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) categorizes titanium dioxide as Generally Recognized as Safe

Titanium Dioxide is a component that is in the pigment’s formulation with the function of lightening colours up and normally it is white.

Titanium Dioxide is considered a “heavy” pigment component due to the particle sizes that it has in it. Because of that, the body will take longer to break the particles than the organism does with the smaller ones.

Through the years, your dark circles camouflage tattooing will fade out and you might need a touch up in the future.

The Brazilian Dark Circles Camouflage Tattooing uses a special shading so the ink won’t be thick and rich. We will prepare a special formula that blends with your natural skin tone.

Medical or Camouflage Tattooing with its colourful tones is in the Beauty Industry for a long time and you need to be aware that any ink with colour there will be Titanium Dioxide in it.

The particles for inks used in Medical or Camouflage Tattooing procedures always have Titanium Dioxide and they will be much heavier compared to the pigments that we use for Microblading for example.

You will notice that the colour for microblading fades out and changes faster compared to Medical or Camouflage Tattooing.

The reason for that is because the particles in semi-permanent make up AND/OR in microblading are much smaller and lighter then the colour will be expelled and broken much more easier to the surface compared to the inks used in Medical/Camouflage Tattooing.

Hope now it’s all clear and I have helped to understand that our inks used in Dark circles/Scars/Stretch marks/Port wine stains/Vitiligo camouflage tattooing are safe with Dioxide titanium in them and you can relax about color change over years.

Aftercare is also really important even if you have finished the treatment with us.
